Hinch criticises Malaysian grand prix yahoos – October 2016
Victorian Senator Derryn Hinch, of the Justice Party, says the nine Australians detained in Malaysia after stripping down to their underwear at the Grand Prix as “foolish” and “stupid”.
Senator Hinch said he found it offensive for anybody to use a flag on bathers or underwear. “It sounds old-fashioned, but I find it offensive for anybody to use somebody's flag – even your own – on your underparts,” he said on 3AW.
“I think it's wrong.”
A staff member of Coalition minister Christopher Pyne is one of the nine people involved. Mr Hinch said he had undoubtedly limited his future career options. “It's just stupid,” he said.
